Pete Rodda came up with this title to describe the effect of his systematic approach to working with horses. Pete utilizes his background studying a variety of "Natural Horsemanship " techniques and layering in the body awareness he has learned to observe through Dressage training he has both participated in and observed over the 4 year period we have been working together. In a nutshell, Complementary Horsemanship helps any horse, from any discipline, find a more clear and secure relationship with their human handler. Even more remarkable is that horses going through this process develop a much greater sense of confidence and relaxation within themselves. To date I can only verify this through personal experience, observation and anecdotal evidence. It is my hope to move this from observation to proof, through scientific evidence, that shows a verifiable chemical change in the horse's biochemistry. But even without that, the evidence keeps mounting that this approach enables horses to obtain such significant progress in their training, and such significant improvements in their ability to relax and process what is going on around them, that if the science can not be established I will continue to share the method, because in 35 continuous years of training horses, I have never encountered such an effective method of enabling a horse to relax.

I never heard of Complementary Horsemanship until now because of your article it helped me learn about the topic. I never though the horse has a stage in life where they develop their self esteem and relaxation. It is good that you know all about this stuff when you are taking care of a horse. The right knowledge will truly make you and your horse bond stronger. The bond of both the owner or the rider and the horse is a big deal in the ranch.

I become knowledgeable about what it is called to the training for a horse, complementary horsemanship. It seems that you are a good trainer of your horse. Your horse has a shiny skin which means it is healthy and taken care well. For decade of years of training horses, it only proves that you are a veteran in training horses. The relationship of the handler and the horse will create a perfect tandem for any competition they will enter. Establishing a good connection with the horse will build trust and win over any competition. I was enlightened by your contribution of new learning. I am really grateful.

Thank you for sharing your blog post regarding horsemanship. It was a new term for me. Anyway, you have a great character, you value the attitude and traits of your horse. I must say that you are indeed a good horse handler. Like humans, horses are also wanted to build a relationship with other beings they usually encounter. Part of building that kind of relationship is for the handler to train their horses properly. They should treat them like your true companion. In that sense, horses will give their loyalty and trust to their owners.
